OMDEC
focuses on improving equipment reliability by improving the quality of the
information that is resident in the users' Asset Management
Systems. To do this, we have seven steps:
1. Data Integrity Consulting - without the correct data, correctly
collected and processed, the reliability results will always be suspect and
variable. We have techniques to identify and correct poor data, plus
provide practical advice on what data to collect, how to collect it and what to
do with it..
2. Data Acquisition - we currently focus on bar-coding and its
integration to EAMs, ERPs, and CMMSs. We have work underway to develop
intelligent sensors that can be used for on-line condition evaluation
3. RCM - we teach, guide and implement RCM, and have a very
effective and simple to use RCM software package. This needs to be tied
in to the EAM and CMMS to ensure that the correct data is collected. In
addition we add some crucial elements that modern RCM has ignored.
4. Exakt is an intelligent maintenance agent - our results to date
have shown:

a formula for predicting equipment failure
4.2.
a graph showing the risk of failure related to the next inspection or
maintenance action
4.3. the ability to
optimize the decisions based on minimum cost, maximum equipment availability, or a preferred blend of
proactive and reactive maintenance
4.4.
remaining useful life calculations
4.5.
identification of the high-impact versus low-impact variables in terms of
effect on reliability.
4.6.
maintenance cost reductions in the 20 - 50% range.
Exakt
can be used as a one-shot evaluation tool, a periodic analyzer or an on-line
monitoring tool. We also have a service alternative - you send us the
data, we send you the results.
5. Spotlight is a case based reasoning expert system Customers are
using it as a diagnostic tool for equipment failures, as a knowledge reservoir
for operations and maintenance, as a machine monitor to read, analyse and
modify equipment operation on-line and as a help desk support tool. There
are numerous high-profile references available.
6. CMMS remedy - up to 70% of CMMSs and EAMs fail to produce
value for their clients. We analyse the problems and provide a plan for
the user to fix them. Our job is to monitor progress and provide
technical advice as to how to keep on track. Our philosophy is that if
you do the fixing, the fixing sticks.
7. Maintenance Performance Management Systems - not just KPI's, but
how to tie them in with corporate and divisional objectives, how to make sure
that feedback from the CMMS and EAM properly updates the RCM, Exakt and
Solvatio databases. Plus the change management implications that will
ensure that the process does not just fade away.
